Trial Wins
& Reduced Charges
Attorney Tracey Wood has represented more than 2,000 people charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (OWI, Wisconsin's DUI drunk driving law) winning numerous acquittals (not guilty verdicts) in trial courts across Wisconsin, and tremendously reduced charges from settlement agreements with prosecutors, and very favorable decisions from the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. She has in fact won several appeals that overturned trial court decisions. Attorney Wood frequently represents people involved in very high-profile cases. A few examples of the types of very difficult cases she has won are provided below.
OWI 3rd Conviction Reversed
Attorney Tracey Wood was hired by her client after he had been represented by another attorney and convicted of a third drunk driving defense based on evidence of two prior convictions in another state. Attorney Wood argued before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals that the conviction in other states did not constitute drunk driving offenses under the laws of the state of Wisconsin, hence her client was not guilty of two prior convictions. The Court of Appeals agreed with Attorney Wood, and reversed the conviction.
Crossing Yellow Line Conviction Reversed
The Wisconsin Court of Appeals reversed a conviction for Attorney Tracey Wood's client who had been represented by another attorney during trial, and convicted on evidence provided by the arresting police officer who testified that the defendant had crossed the lane line. The Wisconsin Court of Appeals found that the stop was illegal. All of the evidence from that stop was then obtained illegally. Without that evidence, a conviction could not result. The Court of Appeals reversed the conviction.
